DeSoto ISD May 2025 Bond Election

On Saturday, May 3, 2025, voters in DeSoto ISD will vote on the district’s $199,855,000 bond referendum.

Why is DeSoto ISD having a bond election?

DeSoto ISD reimagined its educational offerings as defined by the district’s Triple-A Experience--the district’s well-rounded and holistic approach to education pillared in academics, arts, and athletics to create deeper investment and engagement. As leaders, parents, students, teachers, and the community have the opportunity to consider the range of future-focused educational possibilities. Following the recommendations of the Facilities Planning Committee, a cross-section of community stakeholders who examined facilities and demographic studies en route to the development and proposal of a bond scenario, the DeSoto ISD Board of Trustees opted to engage the community by calling for a $199,855,000 bond election slated for the upcoming May 2025 ballot.

  • DeSoto ISD’s oldest campus is 54 years, while the average age of facilities in DISD is 38 years. The bond package encompasses elementary, middle, and high school campus updates. The last DeSoto ISD bond project was initiated in 2005—20 years ago. School systems, on average, engage in a recurring bond program and package every three to five years.

  • The 2025 DeSoto ISD bond proposal was developed to address the installation of surveillance systems, secure entryways, and emergency response equipment to ensure compliance with ADA standards.

  • Co- and extracurricular programs are a part of the educational experience, as well as core curricular experiences and programs. Student programs affected by the bond include STEM (science, technology, engineering, math), Fine Arts, and Athletics.

  • With College, Career, and Military Readiness and Postsecondary Readiness established as priorities for DeSoto ISD in alignment with the district’s goals, the bond proposal addresses the expansion of Career and Technical Education-focused facilities. The bond package will expand Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs to provide students with hands-on learning experiences. These programs are designed to equip students for post-secondary careers and education.
